Our client approached us with a property that had quite a subdivided layout that did not flow well or make best use of the space. The kitchen was cramped and didn’t make the best of natural light.

They wanted to create bigger spaces, more light and really improve the kitchen. They’d seen some pictures online of open-plan kitchens that they liked the look of.

Our clients were unsure of where to start in the process, what sort of planning might be needed and exactly how the finished extension should look and what features it should contain. They wanted to examine a range of options to assist with assessing which direction to take their proposed extension.

They came to Neptune Architectural to handle the project from start to finish including planning and a range of detailed 3D design options to choose from and refine.

From start to finish

We visited our client to discuss their options in detail.

This was followed by a site survey, we created main existing floor plans for the property. We then provided a 3D design options appraisal service in which we designed a range of options in 2D and 3D for our client to examine.

We proposed various layouts with different ways of setting out the kitchen space whilst at the same time providing social and dining spaces. The proportions of this property lent itself well to a more interior kitchen that looked outwardly towards the garden, with social space adjacent to the garden and additional dining space.

Once the key design option was selected, formal drawings for submission to planning were prepared and planning permission was secured. Building Regs drawings were then prepared in conjunction with the Structural Engineer and these were then approved. The client can now seek tenders/quotes from builders to take forward the development.
